For this project, I collaborated with Dr. Youssef, an ophthalmologist who presented at a medical conference, showcasing an innovative tool he designed and produced to revolutionize intraocular lens (IOL) explantation during cataract surgery. Dr. Youssef developed Youssefs explantation forceps to address a major concern of removing the IOL whole: the need to increase incision size, which often leads to complications. With these forceps, surgeons can remove the IOL intact without enlarging the incision, reducing the risk of complications.

I designed a presentation and developed a 3D rendering of the tool to illustrate the tool’s functionality and benefits. Using Blender, I designed and animated a realistic, detailed 3D model of the forceps, highlighting its key features for surgery. Additionally, I provided voiceover and motion graphics to enhance viewer engagement. This project was an exciting opportunity to support a groundbreaking advancement in ophthalmic surgery through visual storytelling.
